Pathways for Choice

One of the founding programs of IndigeSTEAM is the network for Indigenous STEM professionals walking in two worlds that provides networking, healing and support, and shared work in mentoring.  Part of building that program within IndigeSTEAM was starting an AISES professional/hybrid chapter. AISES is the American Indian Science and Engineering Society and has 40 years experience in this type of program and is supporting Canadian chapters and a national gathering .caISES (Canadian Indigenous Science and Engineering Society).

We will be updating our membership as an AISES Professional Chapter to reflect a new name - Pathways for Choice. Our chapter under Pathways for Choice is a hybrid and will support student chapters/clubs at colleges and universities as well as supporting Indigenous STEM professionals working in any industry.  The goal is to serve as a social networking hub for Indigenous STEM professionals, interact with post-secondary students through networking and mentoring, and for all to volunteer with K-12 or community events with IndigeSTEAM or with university chapters/clubs. Chapters underway include Ontario, BC, and Alberta.  There is a chapter in Saskatchewan. IndigeSTEAM is standing by the development of a chapter in any jurisdiction with immediate non-profit status.

To join Pathways for Choice, join AISES in any membership category.  Membership is open to Non-Indigenous people too. American Indian Science and Engineering (AISES)  (Note: AISES has dues waivers for those in need and we can sponsor some fees for those in need.).  Once you are registered, please let us know at [email protected] with your name, email, employer, title and AISES number, and prior to Dec 15th if you can.  Our updated member list for AISES is required in Jan, 2022.  We will connect you with people in your province.

If you are not an IndigeSTEAM member, you are still more than welcome to join our AISES Professional Chapter if you are an AISES Member (We would love to have you join IndigeSTEAM! There is no cost to join IndigeSTEAM, just an interest and willingness to invest 20 hours of engagement a year.)
