I am Darcy Hunt, a proud Bigstone Cree Nation member from Edmonton and founder of Canada’s first 100% Indigenous RPAS operations, training, and sales organizations. Since starting in drone sales in 2016, I’ve built H&K Agents and Aboriginal Training Services – RPAS ACADEMY, training hundreds of Indigenous pilots in Basic and Advanced operations. My mission is to empower Indigenous communities by creating leaders, innovators, and strong youth in the growing drone industry. We’ve delivered services for organizations including AltaGas, the Alberta Assessors Association, and NASA, specializing in LIDAR mapping, inspections, monitoring, and search and rescue.

Wendy Hutchins

Wendy is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor, Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary. She started her STEM career in Medical Laboratory Technology, then returned to school to get her degrees. During her post-doctoral work at UofC, she obtained a patent, then went on to be an instructor and director in the Master of Biomedical Technology program. She has done STEM outreach all through her career including Facutly advisor for Let’s Talk Science at UofC, Sr Scientist Program Development for Alberta Innovates Health Solutions, and Power to Choose director for Alberta Women’s Science Network. Power to Choose is the program that linked her with Rob and Deanna and lead to the founding of IndigeSTEAM.

Kirsten Merle

Kirsten joined APEGA in 2019 as an engineer in admissions and later became a professional practice advisor before moving into her current role as practice standards manager. She oversees the development of APEGA’s practice standards, guidelines, bulletins, and regulatory education. A materials engineering graduate from the University of Alberta, she brings 20+ years of experience in oil and gas design, forensic engineering, structural steel, and QA/QC. Notable projects include a lotus‑shaped Buddhist temple and the Enoch Cree Nation K–12 school. A Métis Nation of Alberta member, she also serves as a director‑at‑large with IndigeSTEAM.

Yvette Gonzalez

Yvette Gonzalez a descendant of Nahua | Mexica ancestors, and serves as a Senior International Development Consultant, Disaster Risk Reduction Expert, and Humanitarian with over 25 years of experience witnessing and working across climate disasters, active conflict, war zones, and epidemiological outbreaks. She has dedicated her life’s efforts to strengthening human systems at scale, collaborating with resilient communities, advancing emergency public health infrastructure, and driving transformative change within the most complex and fragile contexts. Through her work as a Visiting Researcher at the University of Plymouth Faculty of Health, a Spaceflight | Bioastronautics Researcher, she contributes to human health experiments in orbital and suborbital spaceflights, space research analogs, and parabolic flights. Her STEAM outreach and education efforts support Indigenous students and youth globally and she Co-founded a nonprofit, Native Sky, for these contributions.  She works at the intersection of policy, systems design, and frontline implementation bridging the gap between global frameworks and the communities they are meant to serve.Â

Theresa Frankel

I am a citizen of the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation through the Quaw family, with British, Cree/Scottish, Scottish, and French Acadian roots, and a member of the Maugwa Clan of the Saulteau First Nations, where I received the name Nôsemaskwa, Mother Bear. My career began in emergency and transition homes supporting women and children, later expanding into addictions work and roles with Treaty 8 Nations. Now in Treaty 7, I’ve worked across western Canada in Indigenous Relations and currently serve as a senior corporate lead with Stantec. I’m also a certified Peer Support Worker who values community, shared learning, and creating sustainable futures for youth.
